We serve as “Iwai-nushi” (a main host of the celebration) of SAIDAIJI EYO on 18(Sat.) February. (The 2nd time to be “Iwai-nushi” since 1994)
“SAIDAIJI EYO” (Naked man’s festival) is an unique festival with a long history since Nara period (710-794). It has been designated as an important intangible folk cultural asset on 2 March 2016.
At midnight in bitter cold winter, about 10,000 naked men wearing loincloth only struggle to take hold of "Shingi” (a lucky sacred wooden stick) thrown from a window of SAIDAIJI Temple (Higashi-ku, Okayama). The highlight is really overwhelming and virile.
